Registering a nickname
is a great way to choose an identity for
yourself so people can recognize you when you
return. Plus it helps protect your nickname so
you can use it over and over again. The process
just takes a moment of your time.
To register a nickname,
please follow this procedure:
Choose a nickname: /nick
newnick (eg. /nick Larry).
Then type /nickserv
register yourpassword youremail (eg. /nickserv
register sup3rp4sswrd larry@isp.com)
And that should be it.
Congratulations, you are now registered with
your unique nickname. Be sure to protect your
password. Do not tell anyone else what it is.
If
you accidentally show it to someone else, be sure
to change it by typing: /nickserv set passwd
yourpassword (eg. /nickserv set th1s1smypasswd)
If you need further
help, you may /join #help. If you need
