Seems Adam named all the animals on earth.
Average human life is 2.300.000.000 seconds Total animal species = 100 ~ million sleep time = 8 hours. u do the math LOL |

Hi Paulus,
Do you really want to do this on a Christian server? This argument is old and well-used. It isn't amusing. It is just a snoozer. Someone comes along every so often and presents math as you do, saying Adam didn't have the time to name every creature on the planet. They're correct. Genesis 2:19 "And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof. 20 And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found a help meet for him." Your contention is that he couldn't have named every creature on the planet in one day, but if you pay attention to what the text actually says, you can see that he only named three groups--cattle, the fowl of the air and the beasts of the field. He didn't name every creature on earth in a day, nor did he name every creature that creeps upon the earth. The fact is, your math is a little off. You are naming "species" and tagging that category with one-hundred-million members. The last paragraph reduces that number significantly. Another thing that dwindles your chosen number is the fact that you are probably including breeds or types as species when in fact there were only original "kinds" as mentioned in the Bible. Take dogs for example. It is generally known that there are over 150 breeds of dogs registered with the American Kennel Club. There are many more than that which aren't registered. What is also generally known is that all dog breeds can be traced back to wolves. The same thing can be said of cattle and many other beasts of the fields. Adam only named the major kinds, or groups that day. It consumed time, and it wasn't the impossible task that you laughingly make it out to be. It doesn't take very long to utter "cow", "dog" or "horse". Let's go at it from your position though. Take all the different types of hawks there are. They're all hawks. Do you think Adam sat there and named them all in taxonomic order? No, because that's silly. He called them hawks. One more thing.....before the fall, when Adam and Eve enjoyed perfectly created bodies which could live for who knows how long....how do we even know what kind of sleep and at what intervals they might have required it? Even with a body put under the corrupting weight of fallen-ness, Adam lived to be 930 years old. He may have been having such a good time with his appointed task that he just stayed awake. Ever think of that? Peace in the name of the Most High God, Kabar |

The legitimate number is way way lower prob a few 100 to a couple 1000 at most so at worst he spent 24 hours naming about 2k animals. Id say without much trouble a person could read off the names of say 4k or so animals in 24 hours without much trouble. All this one has though is straw-men. As seen by his ark the size of a city because after all gots to have all them fishes that live in fresh water and all the insects and all the plants to. Yet as i showed him and he ignored that even todays fresh water fish have little to no trouble living in semi salt water and even salt water. Now granted not all will do well or even live in it. But no one has ever claimed ither of these things 1 that all species survived the flood we know that many went extinct and 2 that from the time of the flood some 4500 years ago till now that animals have no changed. Todays animals are far less able to adapt and survive than animals from there look at just the last 50 or so years. For example the tazi devils and how they are now heading for extinction and the cheetah which is always riding the fine line between going extinct and has been for as long as i can remember. These 2 animals are just 2 examples of dozens of animals that in recent years have lost so much in genetic diversity that they are on the verge of genetic collapse!

I forgot u believe in macro-evolution.
The fact 1 bear can change its digestive system to fully vegetarian like the panda from carnivourus like the polar bear in just few thousand years. I dont think evolving at that speed is possible since humans would also fully adapt from the hunter gatherers to city/village folk and not have the problems with this lifestyle today. What about the Dinosaurs? didnt he named them? Do you have any evidence that supports the fact that Humans used to live 1000 years?Isnt the earth 6000 years old? i mean surely some1 could have mentioned such long lifespam.Or did only adam lived that much? How come the only skeletons we discovered tell us that humans lived 20-30 max years few thousand years ago and they are full of effects of poor nutrition, bone decay to such an extinct that they could barely walk and that was at 30 years.Noah lived 1000 years? about 4000 years ago? Why havent the pharoahs and emperors of the world and king salomon who were properly taken care of that much or any records that suggests one lived for a milenia. Cheetah is going extinct because in the past very few numbers of them existed and they started inbreeding and became weak and prone to disease. Last edited by Paulus; 02-16-2010 at 05:13 AM. |

The bible never says adam named all the animals just the ones brought to him. No creationsist believe in macro evolution changes from one kind to another. cheetahs are a prime example of why evolution of kind to kind is not possible. They are loosing genetic information from inbreeding. tazi devils are another example. They are coping with a virulent form of cancer that the animals pass on one to the other and no breed earlier in life to cope with their shorter life-spans you evolutionists are all over it as a example of evolution and how they are adapting to new condition like it is the greatest thing ever. When in reality it just shows they adapted a little but are still fast tracked for extinction. There will not be a new kind or species of tazi devil. They will cease to exist.

Hello Paulus,
Would you kindly explain what your motivation is in writing your posts? I've mentioned the obvious. This is a Christian server, and it is my understanding that all are welcome here as long as they are respectful and abide by the rules. That being said, I'm just curious about what goal(s) you might have set for yourself in coming here. Are you interested in Jesus? Are you interested in the Bible, or in opposing He and His Word? If so, why? If not, why? It would seem that you approach your posts with leading questions, followed by what you believe are scientifically supported arguments that you feel oppose the truth of God's holy Word. That's right---God's holy Word. That's how we view the Bible. Christian server. Most Christians here probably believe that all Scripture (the Bible) is infallible, because men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. It comes from God, who used the men who wrote it....like human pens. Now, one of your immediate objections might be that you would say, "Exactly, it was written by men, so I can't trust it." Why? Dawin's lop-sided "On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life" and his racist tome, "The Descent of Man" and the many books which eclipsed Darwin's writings in favor of other proposed mechanisms of evolution---were all written by, that's right---men. Mind you, they were written by men who cannot claim to have been inspired by God, because the theory of Evolution is diametrically opposed to the God of the Bible. This includes "theistic evolution." You have faith in your "men" and it is from they and their version of observable science that you have derived your beliefs. That's certainly your choice. We have placed our trust and God, and we believe what He has preserved for us in His Word. If one of your intended goals here is to derail the trust that so many have in the Word of God, how's that working for you? If you or any of your Evolutionist friends, or any of the most recognized Evolutionist authors had the guns to bring down God's Word, you certainly wouldn't have to bring the same arguments that many before you have crashed and burned with. It would have happened a long time ago. It is very fair to say that Darwin and his proposals have had an effect on the way that people think about God, but so have other world religions. It is a matter of what or who people place their trust in. I would ask you this though....can your faith in evolutionary science solve your sin problem? That's right---your sin problem. Do you even realize that you have one? God made known His Laws to men. He did this to make them aware of their sin problem and of their desperate need for a Savior. They need Savior who can take away the punishment that is the penalty for their sins. Jesus is that Savior. Surely you know of the Ten Commandments. You may not be able to name them all, but you have a general sense of them, of what is right and what is wrong, or how you feel badly when you are mistreated or when you mistreat someone else. That doesn't come to you through the process of Evolution. Evolution would have you clawing and scratching your way to get above all those others who wish to be the most fit to survive. Evolution has no feeling or care. Evolution purports that "the strongest and most aggressive" will finish first, and it could care less about whom it steps over to get there. You would probably disagree with that assessment. Not surprising. Even biologists like Richard Dawkins who are still in love with Charles Darwin have acknowledged that Evolution is a wretched existence, opposed entirely to the way in which they would like to be treated by other men. Dog-eat-dog. How pleasant. You may deny this, but leading Evolutionary proponents can't, and some of them are perplexed by it. If you don't believe so, pick some at random and contact some of them. Write them. I seriously doubt that they will tell you that believing in the theory of Evolution will bring about some sort of utopian society that Christianity has failed to supply to the earth. "Evolution" is wrought with death and destruction. This is no surprise, given the way that the theory works, and there is no redemption involved in it. Christianity however, addresses the sins of men. It tells us to love God and to love our neighbor as we love ourselves. Does that sound like foolishness to you? Why? It offers mankind a solution to his sin problem. It offers that to men through a gracious and forgiving Savior who sacrificed Himself to take away the penalty for our sins. You could say that you don't have any, or even that you don't believe in "sins". Lots of people say that, until someone sins against them. Suddenly, sin is easy to believe in. When people live godlessly, when they lie, steal, covet, murder, lust and live adulterously, they invite the dog-eat-dog mindset of Evolutionary theory. When they live the way that God would have men to live, they won't do those things to each other because they love God, and they want to love as He does. So, you ask your questions. You go ahead and come to a Christian chat server and push your agenda. You might as well try to nail jello to the wall or climb a rope of sand. Be sure to think about those motives of yours. Peace, Kabar |

Finally if i put myself in your place i would consider god leaving enough evidence for even the most confused fella to know that He exists since He loves everybody, after all believing in something without any evidence and rewarding for those that believe in that or not is absolutly absurd thus god should have created enough evidence. My random brag should not concern you in any way since the truth would shine and make me look like a laughing stock. In 24 hours there is 1440 minutes it would be no problem for any one to say 2 animal names a minute which means with ease adam could name 2440 animals in 24 hours and i can't recall but i don't think it says he did it in one day just that they were brought to him and he was to name them. And this was not every animal species alive now or even then but just some of the created kinds which may have numbered as great as 32k give or take. The bible clearly states that it was only some specific animals such as beasts of the field fowl of the air. So at best maybe 2k animals got named by adam at that time. Im sure over his life time he gave names to the rest of the animals he seen. So over even a 100 or so years he had way more than enough time to name every animal he came across. And why are you still using this straw-man argument that no atheists will even use any more? Every one of your arguments you've tried to use and thought you had a gotcha question was answered along time ago. Granted as a atheist you don't have much to argue with but seriously there are new so called missing links discovered every day and every day they get dismissed by those originally claiming they were missing links but hey maybe you will find one that will actually require i google it. Or maybe one ill need to email one of my friends about. From now on all i will be answering these posts with is pointing out that it is a straw man argument and the answer will be just that. This argument is a straw man and not worth any further answer.
