Difference Between "Love" and "Like"
I have many questions about "love" and "like." I feel like people tend to pull up scriptures that they like, and excuse others. As a Christian I want to focus on love because that is what Jesus focused on. I asked myself this question every night; do we use our excuses for not truly loving a person? Yes, God tells us to love our brothers as we love ourselves. Truly, do we use love as an excuse to not “like” a person. Many people say, “I love everybody, but I don’t like everybody!” Then here is my question to you; how can you love somebody you don’t like? Doesn’t that sound hard to do? Did Jesus love Judas Iscariot or did he like Judas Iscariot; the one whom betrayed Him with a kiss? It had to been much more since his focus was on telling the Christians that they should love their enemies. Wasn't it Jesus who stopped Peter from cutting off the solider ear? So I believe we should stop making excuses for love. There has to be a deeper meaning behind Loving someone and liking someone. It is hard to love because if it was easy Jesus would not have given this commandment, to Love the Lord thy God with all your heart, with all thy mind, with all thy soul, to love your enemies, and love your brother (neighbor) as thyself. Therefore love is more than words, and whether we love or like a person God will judge based upon love. What do you think?
