Earlier I was thinking about Matthew 28:19-20:
Quote:
But I'm wondering about here in the US right now. Most people here know that Christianity is here and they can see the churches -- it's so common it is taken for-granted. So I'm asking myself what should I be doing with my life to help reach those around me that have not given their life to Christ? |

thats nice dear.
Perhaps some food or clean water or even anti-aids missionary missions would fit the africans better than a big missionary station with high tech broadcasting equipment and leaflets. 30,000 African children under the age of 5 die every day. South Africa which is the richest african country(besides egypt ofc) has 20 per cent of its population AIDS infected. Thats my opinion. |

All Christians have a personal obligation to be bold in their personal witnessing. In essence,we should all act as ministers to those we have relations with. Most Christians fail to do this due to fear of criticism from others if they tried to explain some of Jesus' increasingly unpopular teachings, most especially these days the ones condemning war and multiple marriages.Oh I have to tell you about the preacher I met several weeks ago who was trying to tell me that Catholics are not Christians. He then made mention of the fact that he was now married to his third wife.I was waiting for him to tell me how many livestock he also has.
Jesus has come up with a solution for those who fail to spread His teachings to others. It's called loss of salvation. Luke 9:26 (Contemporary English Version) 26If you are ashamed of me and my message, the Son of Man will be ashamed of you when he comes in his glory and in the glory of his Father and the holy angels. |

I am thinking that BrianB was looking to get some ideas as to how in this day and age we can all use what God has given us to serve him and grow the kingdom of God. We can look to other parts of the world, and we all know quite well here in the us that we are blessed, but how can we use that blessing to reach the lost for Jesus Christ? What talents and resources can be used and how can we use them to persue Gods will for us and everyone else on this planet?? Obviously there are churches all over and they are for the most part ignored, so more needs to be done, or what we are doing needs to change. I have a church nearby that was planted by australian missionaries. How pathetic is it that we need foreign missionaries to come here and do what we are not?

The cool thing about living in Canada is that a whole bunch of people from all over the world are trying to come here all the time. I don't have to travel to africa to minister to africans, I have african friends that God is using me to minister to. Refugees, immigrants etd.
As for your question on "how to" minister to people. I've learned that its all relational. Just be yourself in Christ. Reach out to people in your own community, neighbours etc... Just be friends and let the light shine. |

Scotty, I think you're headed in the right direction here. It seems the best way to reach people is to simply be there friend and reach out and let them see Christ through you. But then this makes me ask what kind of witness am I? Just how do I react to stressful situations? Do I get mad just because someone put onions on my hamburger at the restaurant when I asked them not to?
It's kinda scary to think of every action and reaction is being watched and that each time I should allow others to see Christ in my life. |
