I have no idea what the official name of this dessert is. I got it from a friend about 15 years ago. Its a bit time consuming to make but I've never had any leftovers lol. The pretzel crust almost tastes like nuts.
On the low salt pretzels, I haven't found any. I crush them, the salt is normally at the bottom, so i don't transfer the majority of the salt. I have always used the frozen strawberries with sugar in them. But the other kind can be used also. Strawberry Dessert 1st Layer: 2 cups crushed pretzels (low salt ) 3 tablespoons sugar 3/4 cup butter, melted Combine and press in 9x13 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes. Cool. 2nd Layer: 6 ounces cream cheese 9 ounces cool whip 3/4 cup sugar Combine. Spread on cooled crust. Refrigerate. 3rd Layer: 1 large pkg. Strawberry Jell-O 2 cups boiling water 20 ounces frozen strawberries Dissolve Jell-O in water, add frozen strawberries, stirring until thickened. Pour over top of 2nd layer. Chill |
