Genesis chapter 19 part 4

This is section 4 of Genesis chapter 19
27Abraham went up early the next morning to the place where he [only the day before] had stood before the Lord.
28And he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the valley, and saw, and behold, the smoke of [c]the country went up like the smoke of a furnace.
The day after this fire event took place Abraham went to the place where he and the angelic visitors had a conversation. Here the word says it was Abraham and God that had that conversation in chapter 18.
Abraham looked towards Sodom. Just as any mass territory viewed from high place or ridge you can see the whole valley. I am sure that is the case in this Scripture because of the view is stated that the ground was still smoldering from the flames.
29When God ravaged and destroyed the cities of the plain [of Siddim], He [earnestly] remembered Abraham [imprinted and fixed him indelibly on His mind], and He sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow when He overthrew the cities where Lot lived.
30And Lot went up out of Zoar and dwelt in the mountain, and his two daughters with him, for he feared to dwell in Zoar; and he lived in a cave, he and his two daughters.
This is a prime example of not being in the right place at the right time .Lot and his daughters didn't stay in zoar. They went to live in the mountains of Moab.
This is a fear based decision. This is a man who had a lot of fear in his life,primarily because of where he lived. He lacked faith in God because he allowed strife to reign and control his life. This strife influence the decisions he made.
The strength of his faith wasn't strong enough in its teaching to take root in his family or his children. This lack of strength and resolve in his faith allowed the following to happen.
31The elder said to the younger, Our father is aging, and there is not a man on earth to live with us in the customary way.
I must note here that Lots two daughters that escaped with Lot left behind their Finance's. They were destroyed along with all of those in the valley. The comment made by these two girls indicates that they were sleeping with their husbands to be before they were married. In the cutler of the Jewish home if a girl wasn't a virgin they wouldn't be able to marry. So this statement by this young women was either giving a huge lie to her sister so she could have sex because she was in such emotional devastation because she lost the love of her life and so did her sister and this is all they knew to do. These two young women did not have a firm foundation in their faith and the faith of their father to be able to wait on God to meet the need through God chain of events. This is a prime example of " I think this sounds good so I think I will do it even if it is wrong" situation.
32Come, let us make our father drunk with wine, and we will lie with him, so that we may preserve offspring (our race) through our father.
33And they made their father drunk with wine that night, and the older went in and lay with her father; and he was not aware of it when she lay down or when she arose.
34Then the next day the firstborn said to the younger, See here, I lay last night with my father; let us make him drunk with wine tonight also, and then you go in and lie with him, so that we may preserve offspring (our race) through our father.
35And they made their father drunk with wine again that night, and the younger arose and lay with him; and he was not aware of it when she lay down or when she arose.
36Thus both the daughters of Lot were with child by their father.
This is where sleeping child sleeping with parent become an issue in the bible because it is wrong in out cutler of today. I know that incest in any form weather it be mother to son and or father to daughter in this case is thoroughly against the word of God and it is completely against the Laws of most nations. This event also makes me wounder what really happened. I mean how do you get someone so drunk two nights in a row that they didn't know they had sex with their daughters? I know this is the word of God and we are not to question but his same event happens a few more times in the word of God that they also become so drunk they didn't know who they were having sex with someone.
This goes back to the territory these girls lived in they learned to be manipulative, They learned to be devious and to serve themselves in the immediate in the midst of their loss and grief. These two girls had lost their mother who could have helped navigate through this time of their lives and not have had relations with their father . But Lots Wife found that her desire to be back with those who were dieing was more important than her family. More important in following Gods instruction that made provision for her.
37The older bore a son, and named him Moab [of a father]; he is the father of the Moabites to this day.
38The younger also bore a son and named him Ben-ammi [son of my people]; he is the father of the Ammonites to this day.
If you have ever wondered where the Moabites came from it starts here. If you have every wondered where the Ammonites came from it is also here. These two people groups came from Lot and the sins of his daughters. These two people groups are cousins to Abraham
What does this all have to do with prayer?
These two chapter of Genesis tells us that when we are in a place where God sends us a message either prophetically or someone to help us and it isn't something we expect. we are to seek God know that what we are encountering is truly from God and then we are to follow those instructions. The reason is because you do not who is praying for you regardless of the situation you live in. You do not know who the person is that is standing in the gap for you. when others pray for you your life takes on situations that only God can orchestrate. The events of Lot was just said events. Only God could have caused all of these events to take place and Lot was saved , his daughters were saved but I am sure that trauma followed him all the rest of his days of his life.
