This question has been asked of me and i'm sure, of most of you who are reading this, many times in the past. I am not sure if it comes from mostly misinterpretation or if it is just one of those things you have heard all our lives so it becomes a truth to us and we then have to base our beliefs around that "truth" in spite of scriptures saying something else. I believe a lot of confusion can be cleared up by getting the basics down first and i will attempt to show what the Bible says...

Recently someone has said to me that the Holy Spirit forces one to do good works and they themselves are required to do nothing. So when they pass by that person who is in need they can rest assured that if the Holy Spirit wanted them to do something for them then it would've made them do a good work. After reading on the Holy Spirit trying to find where one could believe such a thing i have come up empty handed and i hope to dispel this myth by using two Biblical men who have had close encounters...
