You need to do more then believe.belief is easy. You need to have faith.Knowledge is better still. But to say"i believe in God therefore I get the Holy Spirit is just silly.
Ask someone "do you believe in god?" and they say yes. Ask the same person"do you have faith that god can do anything and created everything etc etc etc ' and they may well have a different answer. i have known God all my life.I saw him when i was about 24. 5 weeks ago i experienced the Holy Ghost and that was the first time. What he does for others i dont know. For me it was like WOW!!!! No mistaking. However it is I know God tolerates a lot and forgives easily. No matter how many times you err.But once you have the Holy Ghost in you and turn away it is over for life.He will never take you back.that is why i think that the Holy Spirit is not something given lightly and may even be different then the Holy Ghost. Not sure. But i think if you have the spirit you know it. But belief isnt enough. You have to KNOW! You have to Have FAITH at least.i wonder why God tolerates me.After what He showed me the last 5 weeks ,if He dumped me now it would still be worth it.i would never go back though of my own accord. have no doubt. He created the world. He can do anything.Stick it out and lets meet each other soon in Heaven on Earth. |

I agree Interwattie,
And in fact, it is the Spirit of God Who gives life. 2 Corinthians 3:6(B) "....but the Spirit gives life." Unless the Holy Spirit first quickens and convicts the heart, a person can't even believe in Christ Jesus as lord and Saviour, and probably wouldn't even be very interested. The Holy Spirit touches the heart, and then gives us faith, belief and understanding, that we need Jesus Christ to save us. If the Holy Spirit doesn't first enlighten the soul, one cannot comprehend in their lost state, that Jesus actually died for them. Then as it is written in John chapter 5:21, "For as the Father raises the dead and gives life to them, even so the Son gives life to whom He will." God the Father,Son and Holy Spirit are One and may do individual works, but are also in unison with one another. To be filled with the Spirit of God, means to be controlled by the Holy Spirit, not to have more of Him. He is in all those He/Christ/the Father have saved. The Holy Spirit does not decrease or increase Himself,by giving half or a third of Himself, that is blasphemous. He is in all believers equally. It is the believer who submits to God and walks in the Spirit and newness of life, and abides in the Vine, who is filled (controlled)by the Spirit of God,and the fruit of His Spirit will be evidence of that filling. The original meaning of filled, is really to be controlled, which can be checked in a good Concordance. We are controlled or filled by the Spirit of God, to the degree WE submit to Him, not by how much of Him dwells within us. Tongues are not one of the fruits of the Spirit. Jesus Himself never spoke in tongues and they must be a known tongue (language) that others are familiar with and can interpret to one another, and there must be more than one interpretor. Also, tongues were for a sign to unbelieving Jews in those days. These days, Bibles are available in the various culture's tongue, and they don't need what God did at Pentecost,in these last days. The Holy Spirit quickens the heart to receive the Truth, Christ died on the cross to give souls a new spirit and God gave to Jesus, those he chose from the beginning. No one can come to the Father, unless the Holy Spirit convinces them that Jesus Christ is Lord God, and they believe, amen. 19-1-10. He who has an ear!!! |

I believe that we go through several transformations when the Holy Spirit comes into our lives. I believe first we recieve the Holy Spirit when we are born again. Luke 1:15
for he will be great in the sight of the Lord. He is never to take wine or other fermented drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit even from birth I believe we are filled with the Holy Spirit when we set aside our lives for Christ. Being filled simply means being anointed. When you are filled with the Holy Spirit you can feel him. You are personally involved with him. He becomes apart of you. He speaks through you, and lives through you. You become his resting place. You simply let go and let God. Acts 4:8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit... Acts 4:31 After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly. Peter and the disciples already recieved the Holy Spirit on Pentecost, but because they were in the presence of God they were filled. You can only be filled with the Holy Spirit in the name of Jesus. I was filled with the spirit when I was sixteen. I simply closed my eyes and called his name over and over again allowing his name to change me and loose the strongholds that were placed on my mind so long ago. |
Let r go
