About The Christian Chat Network

The Christian Chat Network, www.christian-chat.net, was founded in November of 1995 as a chat room to a Dallas/Fort Worth Christian Radio show called Youthwake on 91.7 KVTT. Once I saw the excitement in the chat room, a regular listener, BrianB, suggested I create something to allow for multiple chat rooms. This was the beginning of CCNet - The Christian Chat Network.

Youthwake eventually became Lighthouse 21, and CCNet continued to grow to be a large Christian Chat presence on the Internet. Each day we continued the original vision of a wholesome family friendly place for chatters to fellowship and to be a great alternative to the other chat services on the Internet. CCNet pioneered many features designed to ensure the goal of safe, clean, and monitored Christian Chat.

Over the years, many Christian organizations asked CCNet to provide chat services to their websites, this allowed for great partnerships between ministries.

In late 2000, the services of CCNet were acquired by a Christian Internet Provider. This was done to allow a larger company to fund the day to day operations. I had funded CCNet since the beginning, so it was a blessing to have some financial help to allow the chat services to continue and grow. In the agreement I was to maintain responsibility for the day to day operations of the IRCop staff and the server. So nothing would really change. :)

As you know, Satan looks for an opportunity and takes it. After several months it became apparent that there were substantial issues in the relationship with the management of the ISP. This friction caused myself and many of the original IRCop staff to resign from operating the network. We all parted ways and began another small grassroots server called ChristianWorld which has morphed into MyChristianSearch.com.

During this time the Christian Chat Network seemed to have lost focus eventually the domain name was allowed to expire. I then repurchased the domain name with the intent to reestablish CCNet as it originally was intended to once again provide free, safe, and clean Christian Internet Chat.

This second time around, the intention is still the same. However we all are older and wiser and have learned from some of our mistakes. CCNet is a hobby for all of us. The service is provided for free, and it will always be a free ministry on the Internet.
